Central Station

The Antwerp Central Station is Dubbed the ‘Railway Cathedral’.

Antwerp Central railway station (Antwerpen Centraal) is one of the most impressive railway stations in Europe, if not in the World.

King Leopold II had this rail station built between 1895 and 1905 as a neo-Baroque monument to the railway age in 1905

It has an enormous covered roof (train shed).
Low level platforms have recently been built (at enormous cost) to allow running through a new tunnel under the city center.

The original, high-level terminus platforms still remain.

Antwerp Central makes a strong first impression of the city
