Live chat and WhatsApp

When you chat with us on our website or on WhatsApp, we record the conversation and the details you share (such as your name, email, phone number and your question) so our team can answer you and follow up on your request. We do this to take steps at your request before a possible purchase, and in our legitimate interest of serving our clients well. Chats are stored in our customer service software, Trengo (EU-based, data hosted in the EU). WhatsApp is a service of Meta, which may process data outside the EU under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

As a diamond trader we are subject to Belgian anti-money-laundering law. If you become a client, we keep your conversations and details for as long as that law requires, currently 10 years after your last transaction. If you do not become a client, we delete your chat 5 years after your last message, or earlier at your request. You can ask for a copy or deletion of your chat at any time via care@ajediam.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (www.dataprotectionauthority.be).

To prepare your offer and confirm who we are dealing with, as anti-money-laundering law requires, we may check public sources such as Google, LinkedIn and company registers. We only keep relevant business facts, never sensitive information.

Who works with your data

Only our team in Antwerp reads your requests. We use these service providers, who may only process your data on our instructions:

• Google (Analytics, reCAPTCHA): website statistics and spam protection

• Adobe (Fonts): website fonts

We only share data with authorities when the law requires it.

Data outside the EU

Google, Microsoft and Meta may process data in the United States. All three are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission recognises as offering adequate protection.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to its use, and receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time; this does not affect what we did before. Email care@ajediam.com and we will reply within one month. You can also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (www.dataprotectionauthority.be).

We only use analytics cookies if you accept them. Which cookies we use and how to change your choice is explained in our Cookie Policy; you can change it at any time via “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.

Security

Our website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and only the team members who need your data can access it. We keep a profile of your requests and preferences so our team can serve you better. A person always makes the decisions; nothing is decided automatically.
